Security tips
Online banking with Ivobank is a very safe way to manage your money, however there are a number of steps that you can take to ensure your security details do not become exposed to online fraudsters.
1. Make sure your password is secure
Try to choose a 'strong' 8 to 15 character password and change it regularly. Use a mix of letters and numbers that you can remember without writing them down. Avoid using words that may be easy for others to guess, such as the name of a family member or pet.
- Do not write down or store your online banking password or memorable information on your computer.
- Change your password immediately if you think that someone else knows it. Do this by logging on to online banking and selecting the Personal Profile option in the left hand menu.
- Do not give anyone else access to your password.
2. Be careful where you log in and always log out when you're finished
Be careful when using publicly accessible computers in places such as Internet cafes, as they are not always secure.
- Don't choose or change your password or memorable information on a computer in a public place. If you are using our site, don't leave the computer unattended while you are logged on.
3. Check whether the web page is secure
Check to see that the first few characters of the web address in your address bar have changed after you have logged in from the usual 'http' to 'https' – the 's' stands for secure.
Look for the padlock symbol on the top or bottom on the Ivobank log in screen to ensure the site is secure. Alternatively you can click on the VeriSign logo to guarantee you're not being duped into entering your details on a 'fake' site.
4. Check your accounts regularly
If you notice any suspicious transactions in your account, note the details and contact our Customer Support Team immediately.
5. Keep your system and web browser updated
Manufacturers regularly release security patches when weaknesses are discovered in their systems and browsers. We recommend that you keep your computer up-to-date with the latest security patches.
6. Use a personal firewall and anti-virus software
*Always keep your computer up to date with the latest anti-virus software. This can prevent unauthorised access and viruses being downloaded onto your PC when you're on the Internet.
